I hereby authorize flags be flown at half-staff on Saturday, September 21, 2024, on the grounds of the Alabama State Capitol Complex in Montgomery and in Jefferson County to honor the life of former State Senator Priscilla Dunn, who passed away at the age of 80 on September 17, 2024. 

Senator Priscilla Dunn proudly served the people of Bessemer and Jefferson County for 24 years, first as a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from 1998 to 2009, and then the Alabama Senate from 2009 to 2022. A former educator, school principal and alumnus of Alabama State University and the University of Montevallo, Senator Dunn was a stalwart voice for her 19th Senate District and a consistent champion for education and women’s issues.

I therefore authorize that flags on the grounds of the State Capitol Complex and in Jefferson County may be flown at half-staff on the day of Senator Dunn’s interment, September 21, 2024, from sunrise until sunset.
