I am directing flags be flown at half-staff to honor the memory and longstanding service of Alabama state Representative Thad McClammy, who passed away earlier today.

Let us remember the life and service of Rep. McClammy, who represented the citizens of House District 76 since 1994. Rep. McClammy held several committee assignments throughout his tenure; he most recently was serving as chair of the Public Safety Committee of the Alabama House of Representatives. Rep. McClammy had a career in real estate and higher education; he previously served as president of Trenholm State Technical College from 1981 to 1995. He was passionate about helping his community and actively served in several civic organizations.

On behalf of the state of Alabama and my colleagues in the Alabama Legislature, I offer my deepest sympathies and prayers to Thad’s loved ones and his constituents.

The flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, August 22, 2021.
