I am directing flags to be lowered to half-staff today Monday, July 10 to honor Officer Carlos Edward Jamal Taylor. Officer Taylor passed away after a six-year battle with a serious injury which occurred while in service with the Montgomery Police Department in February of 2017. On behalf of the state of Alabama, I express my deepest condolences to his family and fellow law enforcement officers. Officer Taylor will forever be remembered as a hero. The flags are to be flown at half-staff on the day of his interment today Monday, July 10, 2023. The flags will continue to remain lowered until sunset today Monday, July 10, 2023.
