By order of the Governor and in accordance with the Honoring Hometown Heroes Act, flags over the State Capitol and all State office buildings will be flown at half-staff from sunrise on Friday, August 26th until sunset on Sunday, August 28th in honor of Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Sergeant Lee Russell of the THP Aviation Division and Marion County Sheriff’s Department Detective Matt Blansett who were killed in a helicopter crash while conducting a mission in the Chattanooga area. Governor Lee said, “ Maria and I are heartbroken by this tragic loss. Please join us in praying for their families in this time of unimaginable grief.”
