January 20, 2025 - Full-Staff Alert - Alaska

Governor Mike Dunleavy has directed that both the U.S. and Alaska flags at the Alaska State Capitol and all state facilities be raised to full staff at sunrise on January 20, 2025 to celebrate the Constitution and honor the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump.

America’s Constitution forever changed history by establishing the process for the peaceful transition of power in our nation’s founding document. Inauguration Day is the Constitution in action and is one of the most important events in our Republic. It is the antidote to tyranny and should be celebrated accordingly.

Flags shall return to half-staff at sunrise on January 21, 2025 in continuance of honoring the life and legacy of former President Jimmy Carter through the remaining national period of mourning.

Per U.S. Flag Code, flags have been at half-staff since President Carter passed away Dec. 29 at the age of 100. Citizens are still allowed to follow the US Flag Code precedent if they prefer.
