Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state buildings to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset Saturday, Aug. 30, in honor of a Marion County firefighter who died in the line of duty.
Lt. Brian Hatt, age 51, of the Raywick Volunteer Fire Department was injured in a tanker truck crash while responding to a call on the evening of Aug. 22. He died Monday, Aug. 25, at University of Louisville Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Marion County Events Center in Lebanon. Interment will follow at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery in Raywick.
Flags across the commonwealth are already at half-staff until sunset on Sunday in remembrance of the victims of shooting violence in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Gov. Beshear encourages all individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute of lowering flags in honor of fire Lt. Hatt as well.
