Today, Governor Dan McKee issued the following statement regarding the passing of former Rhode Island Governor Edward DiPrete:

“We offer our condolences to the DiPrete family on the passing of their patriarch, former Governor Edward DiPrete. Ed will always be remembered as a down-to-earth, approachable leader who cared deeply for his home state.”

Governor McKee has ordered state flags at all state facilities and buildings to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Governor DiPrete. The flags will be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of his interment. The Governor also asks Rhode Island to lower their state flags as a sign of respect.
