From SC.GOV Service: Receive South Carolina Flag Status Notifications. 2024-11-03 The Governor orders that the flags atop the State Capitol be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in honor of Dr. Barbara Nielsen and in recognition of her extraordinary legacy and lifetime of service to the State of South Carolina, including as Superintendent of Education from 1991 to 1999, educator, administrator, and Chair of the South Carolina Teacher Recruitment and Retention Task Force, and the Governor requests that the flags over state buildings and buildings of the political subdivisions of this State similarly be flown at half-staff for this purpose.
