Today, Governor Larry Rhoden ordered that flags be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Friday, January 9, 2026, in honor of former state legislator Harvey Krautschun. He served in the South Dakota State House of Representatives from 1985 to 1996, and he was Speaker of the House from 1995 to 1996.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm CT/1:00 pm MT on Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish, SD.
