November 14, 2025 through interment (unknown) - Half-Staff Alert - Wyoming
Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY) today released the following statement upon learning of the passing of Representative John Eklund of Laramie County:
“Jennie and I are deeply saddened by the news of our friend Representative John Eklund’s passing. Wyoming has lost a dedicated public servant, a steadfast advocate for agriculture, and a man whose kindness touched everyone who had the privilege to know him. Jennie and I hold his wife Suzie and the entire Eklund family close in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
John served the people of Laramie County with integrity and heart from the moment he entered the Legislature in 2011. He brought a steady hand, a gentle spirit, and a deep commitment to Wyoming’s agricultural community, work that earned him respect on both sides of the aisle. He was all that Wyoming could have wanted in a leader and a legislator. A good man with the right values and a strong work ethic.
Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Wyoming is better for John’s years of service, and his loss will be felt across the state he cared for so deeply,” Governor Gordon said.
Governor Gordon has ordered the Wyoming State Flag to remain at half-staff at the Capitol and in Laramie County until sunset on the date of Representative Eklund’s internment.
