Governor Asa Hutchinson has ordered the United States flag and the state flag of Arkansas to half-staff in tribute to the memory of Fire Chief Wes Adams of the Sedgwick Fire Department in Lawrence County.

On December 7, 2021, Chief Adams was responding to an accident on U.S. Highway 63 when he was struck by a motorist, receiving serious injuries. Chief Adams succumbed to his injuries later that evening at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro.

Chief Wes Adams' bravery and actions will continue to inspire the people of Arkansas and is worthy of our remembrance. Flags are to remain at half-staff until the day of interment (December 11, 2021).
