August 31, 2019 - Half-Staff Alert - Connecticut
Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is directing the flag of the State of Connecticut to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, August 31, 2019, in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day.
The global event is held each year to raise awareness of overdoses, reduce the stigma of drug-related deaths, and acknowledge the grief felt by families and friends.
“Too often, the stigma of addiction can be a barrier to preventing someone who is in need from seeking help,” Governor Lamont said. “There are resources and treatment options available no matter what stage individuals find themselves. Recovery is possible.”
