Governor's Proclamation
WHEREAS, Specialist Jackson D. Johnson, of Jefferson County, Missouri, was a patriotic American who committed to serving his nation by enlisting in the U.S. Army Reserve in February 2016; and
WHEREAS, Specialist Johnson graduated from Hillsboro High School, in Hillsboro, Missouri, in May, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Specialist Johnson was a Transportation Management Coordinator in the 657th Transportation Company (Movement Control Team), 419th Transportation Battalion, 649th Regional Support Group, and 103rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command; and
WHEREAS, in October 2018, Specialist Johnson, as a member of the 657th Transportation Company, deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve; and
WHEREAS, on March 5, 2019, Specialist Johnson was killed in-the-line-of-duty when the vehicle he was in collided with another vehicle in northern Kuwait; and
WHEREAS, Specialist Johnson was bravely and selflessly serving his nation; and
WHEREAS, the people of the State of Missouri are thankful for the courageous members of the military serving our nation around the globe.
NOW THEREFORE, I, Michael L. Parson, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI, as a mark of respect for the death of
SPECIALIST JACKSON D. JOHNSON
and for his bravery and service to the U.S. Army Reserve and a grateful nation, do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of Missouri shall be flown at half-staff at all government buildings in the State of Missouri, for one full day on March 21, 2019, from sunrise to sunset.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Missouri, in the City of Jefferson, this 19th day of March, 2019.
