Governor Kevin Stitt had has ordered U.S. & Oklahoma State flags on State properties to be lowered to half-staff to honor the passing of Federal Wildlife Officer David Taylor, who died while helping others evacuate from the Railroad South Fire. The governor had the following statement:

My heart breaks for the family, friends and fellow officers of Federal Wildlife Officer David Taylor. Officer Taylor made the ultimate sacrifice while helping evacuate Oklahoma families threatened by the Railroad South Fire this weekend.

He went door to door alongside local emergency crews, putting the safety of others ahead of his own.

I have ordered all American and Oklahoma flags on state property to be flown at half-staff September 1st through September 4th in honor of Officer Taylor and his sacrifice.

Sarah and I are praying for his family, his fellow officers and everyone who was impacted by this tragedy. His courage, selflessness and devotion to protecting others will never be forgotten.
