October 19, 2026 - Half-Staff Alert - Wyoming
Governor Mark Gordon (R-Wyo.) ordered the American and Wyoming flags be flown at half-staff in Laramie County from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Oct. 19, to honor the sacrifice of U.S. Army Spc. Jonn Edmunds, who lost his life in the service of our country 25 years ago. In 2001, Spc. Edmunds’ Black Hawk helicopter crashed in Pakistan, during the initial ground operations in neighboring Afghanistan, which targeted Taliban forces and Osama bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda network.
"Twenty-five years ago, Jonn Edmunds of Cheyenne was one of the first casualties in America’s war on terrorism and Operation Enduring Freedom after 9/11, " Gov. Gordon said. "On this 25th anniversary, Wyoming honors Army Ranger Edmunds, who gave the highest measure of devotion in defense of America."
