Today, Governor Mike Parson ordered all U.S. and Missouri flags to fly at half-staff at Northeast Correctional Center, the Missouri Department of Corrections' headquarters in Jefferson City, and all government buildings in Pike County from sunrise to sunset on October 26, 2023, as a mark of respect for Missouri Correctional Officer Kelly Bernard Rolando.
"Correctional Officer Rolando leaves behind a legacy of selfless service to the people of Missouri," Governor Parson said. "He provided seven years of faithful service to the State of Missouri, and we will forever be grateful for and remember his dedication. Teresa and I will be praying for his family as our hearts go out to them during this most difficult time."
Correctional Officer Rolando is survived by his parents who are both long-time Missouri Department of Corrections staff members who also work at Northeast Correctional Center.
The flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
